Uzbekistan plans to attract Korean firms to gas-chemical projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan is planning to attract companies from South Korea to new gas chemical projects with total cost of US$900 million, RIA Novosti reported quoting to the source of the government.

The report said that Uzbekneftegaz signed documents on cooperation in developing and implementing projects on synthesis of gas and production of polymer products with Korean companies.

Uzbekneftegaz and S-Oil signed a memorandum of understanding on implementation of joint projects in oil and gas sector.

The sides are planning to work together to organize production of polycarbonate, polystyrene and ABS-plastic with preliminary cost of US$700 million.

Uzbekneftegaz and IREN signed a memorandum of understanding to organize production of polymer products.

The project with the cost of US$200 million envisages organization of production of 1.4 butanediol from natural gas and methanol and further produce spandex (synthetic thread used in textile industry, packaging and food industry).

Uzbekneftegaz and Honam Petrochemical also inked a memorandum of understanding on organization of production of plastic products for automobile industry. The project cost is about US$10 million.

The memorandums envisage creation of working group, which will report on progress of the projects to each side.
