Uzbekistan plans to attract a loan of US$200 million for the modernization of the healthcare system

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan may attract new loans worth US$200 million to modernize the health care system and the sanitary-epidemiological service.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIVT), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) are considering a new loan of US$200 million for the modernization of the healthcare system and the sanitary-epidemiological service of Uzbekistan.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held talks with ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa on 13 July.

During the conversation, the ADB President said that preparations are underway to approve a new loan of US$100 million to modernize and equip the health system and the sanitary-epidemiological service of Uzbekistan. It is expected that this loan will be approved in early August of this year.

It was also announced that for the implementation of this project co-financing in the amount of US$100 million from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will be attracted.
