Uzbekistan passes programme to develop tourism in Kashkadarya region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan approved a programme of targeted measures on developing tourism and increasing export potential of tourism services in Kashkadarya region for 2011-2012.

Uzbektourism said that the progamme pays attention to development of hotel sector, roadside infrastructure, as well as restoration of historic-architecture monuments. The budget is US$9.327 million.

Within the programme, ten new hotels will be built in Kashkadarya region, including nine in Karshi city and one three-star hotel with 80 rooms in Shakhrisabz district. It is also planned to construct hotel Orient Star Shahrisabz in Shakhrisabz city.

Significant reconstruction work will be carried out at complexes Langar Ota in Kamashi district, Imom-Muyin an-Nasafi of Karshi district, Sulton Mir Haydar in Kasbi district, Husam Ota in Kasan district, as well as historic objects.

The programme includes measures on constructing roadside tourism infrastructure. At Guzar highway, it is planned to construct roadside tourism infrastructure. It is planned to build camping sites at Bukhara-Qarshi-Guzar-Termez highway.

In order to attract tourists into the region, tourism-rehabilitation complex will be created at Sechankul lake in Mirishkor district.
