Uzbekistan participates in the 7th International Tourism Ministers’ Round Table in Japan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The 7th International Tourism Ministers’ Round Table, organized in collaboration with "UN Tourism," was held in Tokyo. Uzbekistan was represented by Umid Shadiev, Chairman of the Tourism Committee.

The event brought together tourism ministers from various countries, including Japan, Greece, the USA, Malaysia, Argentina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Indonesia, and the Philippines, as well as leaders of international organizations.

The main themes of the ministers’ meeting in Japan focused on creating new tourist routes, the role of youth in tourism, and the development of sustainable tourism. Particular attention was given to sustainable tourism, the preservation of cultural heritage, and the promotion of eco-tourism.

Participants discussed creating new routes connecting the ancient cities of Uzbekistan’s Silk Road with scenic mountainous areas and ecological reserves. This initiative would allow tourists to experience Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage, enjoy traditional Uzbek cuisine, and explore the country’s natural beauty through active outdoor recreation.

Umid Shadiev shared details of the reforms taking place in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, highlighting the development of new tourism destinations and ongoing efforts to promote the country’s tourism potential and attract foreign visitors.

Uzbekistan has undertaken extensive reforms in the tourism sector, including simplifying the visa regime, modernizing tourism infrastructure, developing new tourist destinations, and improving the quality of tourism services.

Various programs are being implemented in Uzbekistan to attract foreign tourists, including the creation of new tourist routes, expanding the network of hotels and restaurants, and enhancing the skills of tourism workers.

At the conclusion of the round table, a series of recommendations were adopted to enhance international cooperation in tourism and improve the quality of tourism services.
