Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, led the country’s parliamentary delegation at the 57th session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in St. Petersburg.
The session addressed the role of international election observation in fostering democracy and reviewed the Assembly’s efforts in promoting democratic principles and enhancing cooperation among member states. Tanzila Narbayeva presented initiatives developed by Uzbekistan.
To date, the Assembly’s observation missions have monitored over 100 electoral campaigns, with active participation from Uzbek parliamentarians. Participants highlighted the activities of the Advisory Council of Heads of Electoral Bodies, established at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, members of Uzbekistan’s parliamentary delegation endorsed the Assembly’s model laws and recommendations. These measures aim to strengthen multilateral cooperation, align with Uzbekistan’s legislative initiatives, and serve the nation’s interests.
