Uzbekistan optimizes customs regulation to support domestic producers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 14 December, an additional meeting of the Council for Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation of Foreign Trade was held under the leadership of the Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov. The main topic of discussion was measures to protect domestic producers and stimulate the growth of high-tech product manufacturing.

During the meeting, proposals were reviewed to optimize customs duty rates on the import of various goods, including electrical equipment, agricultural and construction machinery, products from the metallurgical, food, and chemical industries, as well as food products and agricultural goods. Special attention was given to minimizing the negative impact on domestic market participants.

The Council made decisions aimed at simplifying trade procedures to ensure local enterprises have access to necessary components, raw materials, and supplies. This is expected to facilitate the accelerated development and increased production volumes.

Additionally, particular attention was given to the issue of obtaining permits for export and foreign trade activities. The Council will develop practical proposals to resolve existing difficulties and improve conditions for exporters.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council adopted decisions to develop specific measures for implementing the discussed initiatives. These measures are expected to create more favorable conditions for the development of domestic production and enhance the competitiveness of Uzbek goods in both domestic and international markets.

The Council for Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation was established in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 28 January 2019, No. PP-4135.
