Uzbekistan National Football Team Given Hero’s Welcome in Tashkent After Historic World Cup Qualification
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, on 6 June at 16:28 local time, a Uzbekistan Airways aircraft from Abu Dhabi landed at Tashkent International Airport carrying the national football team of Uzbekistan.
Onboard were the players who just a day earlier secured a historic 0:0 draw against the United Arab Emirates, clinching—for the first time in the country’s history—a place in the final stage of the FIFA World Cup.
To mark this momentous achievement, a ceremonial welcome was held at the airport.
A wide circle of dignitaries, renowned athletes, sports officials, and the players’ families and loved ones gathered to greet the team and congratulate them on their historic success.
Among the honored guests at the event was the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov.
During the ceremony, heartfelt words of appreciation and congratulations were extended to the players for their outstanding contribution to the development of Uzbek sport and for enhancing the country's international standing.
As a token of national gratitude, each member of the team was presented with a car in recognition of their achievement.
