Uzbekistan monitors reports of coercion in cotton picking

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The National Commission for Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor has taken control of reports regarding the coercion of citizens into cotton harvesting.

According to information from the Senate’s press service, some citizens have expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that they are threatened with the non-payment of child benefits until their child reaches the age of two if they refuse to participate in cotton picking.

Additionally, complaints have been received that teachers are being pressured to recruit others for cotton harvesting.

These cases are under the attention of the National Commission, which will conduct a thorough investigation and take necessary measures against those responsible.

In similar situations, citizens can seek assistance by calling the short numbers 1282 or 1092, or through the Telegram bot: @munosibmehnat_bot.
