Uzbekistan lowers electricity output by 1.8% in 1H
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan lowered electricity production by 1.8% year-on-year in January-June 2009 to 25.168 billion kilowatt hours, the State Statistics Committee said.

In the first half of the year, heat energy consumed by households and enterprises came to 9.806 million Gcal, a year-on-year decrease of 7.2%.

Over 98% of Uzbek electricity is produced at stations belonging to Uzbekenergo (seven thermal plants, six hydroelectric plants and three combined heat and power plants). In 2008, electricity output in Uzbekistan went up by 2.3% to 50.1 billion kilowatt hours.

Uzbekistan is part of the unified Central Asian Energy System. Total installed capacity at the country’s electricity stations comes to 11,580 megawatts.
