Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 December, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan approved a resolution aimed at supporting the export potential of sunflower seed producers, according to the Ministry of Justice.

Under the resolution, starting December 20, all entrepreneurs, regardless of their legal form, are permitted to export sunflower seeds outside Uzbekistan’s customs territory.

The resolution applies to both white sunflower seeds (HS code 1206 00 990 0) and striped sunflower seeds (HS code 1206 00 910 0).

It is important to note that in May 2022, a presidential resolution imposed a ban on the export of sunflower seeds, other oilseeds, and vegetable oils to stabilize prices in the domestic market.

In March of this year, the government partially eased the ban, allowing companies to export some imported vegetable oil and products made from imported seeds.

At a meeting on 10 December, the president instructed the deputy prime minister to explore the possibility of fully lifting the ban on vegetable oil exports, which was an important step toward market liberalization.
