Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree approving the technical and economic parameters of a project aimed at combating COVID-19, with participation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

According to the decree, the Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health under the Ministry of Health has been designated as responsible for implementing the project titled “Taking Urgent Measures to Combat COVID-19 in the Republic of Uzbekistan.” The committee will coordinate the project and ensure effective use of the allocated funds.

Expenses related to loan repayments, including premiums, interest, and other payments, will be covered by the national budget of Uzbekistan.

The document outlines the technical and economic parameters of the project, as well as its target indicators.

Under the project, Uzbekistan has signed an agreement with ADB for a concessional loan of US$100 million for 40 years with a 10-year grace period. Additionally, an agreement with AIIB has been signed for a loan of US$100 million for 30 years, also with a similar grace period.
