Uzbekistan launches new textile enterprises
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Nine new enterprises of light industry with total cost of US$101 million were launched in Uzbekistan on the eve of the 21st anniversary of the country’s independence, the First Deputy Chairperson of Uzbekyengilsanoat Maksud Mansurov said.

He said that export potential of these enterprises makes u US$126 million and they created 3,380 new jobs.

He said that Uzbekyengilsanoat unites 282 enterprises. He said that some 133 of them are textile enterprses, 117 – clothing and garment enterprises, and 32 – silk industry enterprises.

Maksud Mansurov said that Uzbekistan increased internal processing of cotton fiber from 7% in 1991 to 35% in 2011. He said that the volume of internal processing will reach over 50% by 2015.

In order to increase capacities and assortment of products in 2012-2014, it is planned to purchase 700 units of equipment to produce ready garments, yarn and fabrics for US$13.4 million.

Overall Uzbekyengilsanoat will implement 23 investment projects with total sum of US$625 million. In last 20 years, textile industry attracted over US$1.3 billion of foreign investments.
