Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan between the Head of the Department for Cooperation with European Countries and EU Institutions, Aibek Shakhavdinov, and the Director of the First Department of Bilateral Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Uldis Mikuts. The Ambassador of Latvia, Reinis Troksa, was also present at the meeting.

The sides discussed various aspects of interaction between Uzbekistan and Latvia, including the development of political dialogue, strengthening trade, economic, and investment relations, as well as financial, technical, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the opening of the office of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency in Tashkent, which provides new opportunities for establishing direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries.

The intention to jointly prepare for the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation in early 2024 was also confirmed.

The parties also exchanged views on interaction within the European Union and other international organizations.
