Uzbekistan — Kyrgyzstan: Interparliamentary cooperation reaches new level
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 May 2025, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismailov met with Deputy Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Azigaliyev.
During the meeting, it was noted that in recent years, Uzbek-Kyrgyz relations have reached the level of strategic partnership. Regular meetings of heads of state, high-level negotiations, constructive and open dialogue, as well as a sincere desire to deepen the partnership, have created a solid foundation for the comprehensive development of bilateral relations.
The sides discussed the prospects for strengthening interparliamentary ties in the context of the increasingly close relations between the peoples of the two countries. It was emphasized that as Uzbek-Kyrgyz relations develop, interparliamentary cooperation is also entering a qualitatively new stage.
For his part, Nurlanbek Azigaliyev expressed gratitude for the dialogue and highly appreciated the pragmatic foreign policy of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, especially the efforts aimed at improving relations with neighboring countries.
He also noted that the fifth session of the Interparliamentary Commission for Cooperation between the Oliy Majlis and the Jogorku Kenesh, which took place the day before in Samarkand, was successful and will contribute to further strengthening interparliamentary ties.
The interlocutors emphasized that the expansion and strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation, the activation of dialogue, the effective use of the potential of public diplomacy, and the exchange of experiences in lawmaking are of mutual interest and serve the common goals of development.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
