Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan hold inter-MFA political consultations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 December 2023, bilateral Kyrgyz-Uzbek negotiations took place in Tashkent as part of the next round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

The Kyrgyz delegation was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeenbek Kulubaev, the Uzbek delegation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov.

During the negotiations, current issues of bilateral relations were discussed, including the implementation of previously reached agreements at the highest levels.

The parties emphasized the high level of political ties between the two states and effective cooperation in the international arena, expressing the need to improve forms of political and diplomatic interaction.

Noting the historical significance of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the heads of delegations emphasized the importance of maintaining a high level of Kyrgyz-Uzbek comprehensive strategic partnership, based on the traditions of centuries-old friendship, good neighborliness and mutual respect.

The ministers highly appreciated the established practice of mutual support for important global initiatives and proposals of the two countries on current issues of the international and regional agenda within the framework of international organizations.

Issues of developing bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, aimed at expanding economic opportunities and maintaining the level of well-being of the population of both countries, were also discussed.

The negotiations covered current topics of interaction in the field of transport and logistics, water and energy complex, cultural and humanitarian sphere, as well as the expansion of the bilateral legal framework and consular interaction.

Following the results of productive negotiations, a corresponding protocol was signed.
