Uzbekistan-Korea: promising cooperation is carried out in the field of forestry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2022, an agreement was reached between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea on cooperation on the introduction of a new type of decorative and rare tree and shrub species, the creation of new automatically controlled nurseries and the implementation of new innovative projects in cooperation. This project was planned to be implemented in 2023-2026.

Representatives of the Korean International Cooperation Agency KOICA visited the Forestry Research Institute on a business trip.

Today, the Republic of Korea contributes to the development of the region, sharing practical experience in expanding technological and personnel exchange with Uzbekistan, achieving socio-economic development in industry, transport and logistics, agriculture, e-government, information technology, education, reforestation, standardization, development of human resources and other areas. Cooperative relations have been established with international organizations such as the Korea International Agency and the Japan Agency. In 2017-2022, 15 practical, 5 innovative projects were completed, and to date, 4 practical, 2 innovative projects worth 4.1 billion soums have been completed.

The main purpose of the visit of representatives of the Korean International Cooperation Agency KOICA to the Forestry Research Institute is to organize a plantation of handon pistachios in the indicated regions of the republic as part of a project that will be approved by the current organization for a period of 5 years in the first quarter of 2024.

During the meeting, trainings and practical exercises were organized for researchers and doctoral students of the Forestry Research Institute, as well as capacity building and joint classes for employees working in forestry.
