Uzbekistan keeps 57th place in Legatum Institute’s Prosperity Index
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan kept the 57th place in latest version of the annual Prosperity Index, which is published by British analytical institute Legatum Institute.

According to Legatum Institute, Uzbekistan claimed the 66th place in category of economy (67th place in 2014) and 17th place on social capital (16), 93rd place in entrepreneurship and opportunity (92), 70th place in education (69), 62nd place in healthcare (60), 67th place in security (67), 55th place in personal freedoms (57) and 117th place in state governance (118).

In new index, Uzbekistan is ahead of Russia (58th place), Belarus (63), Kyrgyzstan (66), Ukraine (70), Turkey (78), India (99) and Iran (106). Kazakhstan is on the 56th place in the index (55th place in 2014).

Index is based on 79 various figures, united under eight categories, which reflect development of society and prosperity – economy, entrepreneurship and opportunity, governance, education, healthcare, security, personal freedoms and social capital.

Legatum Institute’s prosperity index, now in its sixth year, assesses global wealth and wellbeing and benchmarks 142 countries around the world, which covers 96% of population and 99% of world GDP.

Norway, Switzerland and Denmark take first, second and third on the index with New Zealand, and Canada coming in fourth and fifth respectively. They were followed by Australia, Netherland, Finland and Ireland. United States was on the 11th place.
