Uzbekistan 26/04/2007 Uzbekistan joins CIS statement on Tallinn monument

Uzbekistan joined to the statement of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on situation around monument to Soldier-Liberator in Tallinn, Estonia.

 

Russian Foreign Ministry’s web site said on 26 April several members of CIS adopted joint statement on situation around monument in Astana, Kazakhstan on 25 April. Astana is hosting a session of Foreign Ministers’ Council of CIS states.

 

The document was signed by heads of delegations of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russia and Uzbekistan.

 

The statement expressed deep concern in connection with plans of the government of Estonia to transfer burials of soldiers of various nationalities, who gave their lives to free Europe from fascism, and dismantling of monument to Soldier-Liberator in Tallinn.

 

It added that CIS member states expect that the government of Estonia will respect history and memories of fallen soldiers.
