Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 November 2024, the Republic of Uzbekistan officially joined the "Framework Agreement on the Simplification of Cross-Border Paperless Trade in the Asia-Pacific Region."
According to Article 19 of the Agreement, this international treaty will enter into force for Uzbekistan on 3 February 2025.
In connection with Uzbekistan’s accession to the "Framework Agreement," a decree was adopted by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 7 September 2024 “On Accession to the International Treaty.”
The Framework Agreement was adopted on 19 May 2016, by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and is a multilateral international document.
The main goal of the Agreement is to promote the development of paperless cross-border trade by creating conditions for mutual recognition and exchange of trade documents and data in electronic form, as well as to enhance operational compatibility of national and subregional systems.
The Agreement has been in effect since 20 February 2021, and to date, 14 countries have officially joined.
Uzbekistan’s accession to this document will open new opportunities for the country’s integration into the global paperless trade system, accelerating and simplifying export-import operations with countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be responsible for the implementation of this international treaty.
