Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The annual tourism fair “Holliday Fair-2020”, which is the largest exhibition in the field of tourism and travel in Benelux region, was held at the Brussels Expo exhibition center in the Belgian capital Brussels, Dunyo news agency reported.

According to the organizers, this event was attended by more than 800 national and international tourism organizations, large travel companies and airlines from more than 70 countries.

Within the framework of the event, the tourism potential of Uzbekistan was presented together with reputable travel agencies of the Benelux countries like Asteria, BT Tours, Emotion Planet, Escape Travel, HoboReizen, Joker Reizen, Dromen, Koningaap, Silk Voyage, Terres Lointaines, Tiara Tours, Travel Experts, Travel Sensations, as well as Uzbek travel companies SarbonTour, Turquoise Travel, whose colorful stands offered tourist trips to our country .

The Embassy of Uzbekistan together with the tourist company SilkVoyage launched an informative exposition about our country, which attracted the interest of many visitors to the exhibition. The stand was decorated in a traditional style using handicraft products.

The participants were informed of detailed information on measures taken in Uzbekistan to intensify the tourism sector and create a modern tourism infrastructure, priority areas for tourism development in the republic, as well as spiritual and cultural heritage, historical sights of the cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.

It was noted that the country adopted and consistently implemented targeted state and territorial programs for the development of the tourism industry. In recent years, regional programs to support the leisure industry in Tashkent, Namangan, Andijan, Kashkadarya, Khorezm and other areas have been successfully implemented.

It was emphasized that in recent years, new types of travel have been introduced, including ecotourism, geotourism, extreme tourism, tourism, medical and cultural destinations, as well as mountaineering, rafting and fishing. In this process, the features and capabilities of each region of the country are taken into account.

Projects are underway to restore cultural heritage sites, to build and reconstruct tourist sites, to develop new routes through ancient monuments and scenic spots.

As part of the event, participants were also informed about expanding the list of countries for a visa-free regime and simplifying the visa regime for citizens of individual countries and other changes aimed at creating favorable conditions for tourists.

Representatives of European companies noted that in recent years there has been a positive trend of a significant increase in sales of travel packages to Uzbekistan.

In general, the presentation aroused great interest among visitors to the international fair, among which information materials on the history, architecture and tourist attractions of Uzbekistan were distributed. Documentary films produced by TV5 Monde, Euronews and Goskomturizma showing the rich historical, cultural and architectural heritage of the Uzbek people, unique architectural sights of the republic and folk crafts were shown.

In particular, Belgian tourists became interested in the opportunity to visit Karakalpakstan, Surkhandarya and Namangan regions, along with the traditionally popular Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.
