Uzbekistan is interested in expanding access to global stock markets

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 December, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the support of the Direct Investment Fund (UzDIF), held a training conducted by a group of experts from Citibank (USA).

The purpose of the event is to improve the skills of domestic specialists for successful work in international financial markets.

The training was attended by heads of large companies, stock market participants, representatives of relevant ministries, departments and commercial banks.

The agenda included key issues faced by stock trading participants: organizing the issuance of debt (DCM) and equity (ECM) instruments, including initial placement on the public market, issuing depository receipts (DR) as instruments for trading securities in foreign countries stock exchanges, as well as legal features of issuing securities.

Citibank, founded in 1812, is the largest international bank and part of Citigroup, a global financial services corporation.

As part of the training, Citibank managing directors, including Kayhan Kopmaz and Armin Lindtner, shared innovative methods of working in international financial markets.

This training is part of the implementation of the tasks set after the high-level visit to the United States of America in September of this year.

During this visit, agreements were reached to expand mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at developing the banking and financial sector, increasing the attractiveness and liquidity of securities on the stock market, as well as attracting foreign investors to the capital market of Uzbekistan.
