Uzbekistan is interested in creating networks of hostels
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan is interested in increasing the number of hostels in the country. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, commenting the decision to simplify the requirements for hostels.

To stimulate the development of infrastructure for low-budget tourism and hostel business in the country, as well as the formation of a modern hostel network, changes were introduced to the state standard O’z DSt 3220.

The changes made allow entrepreneurs to significantly reduce costs when creating and organizing the activities of hostels.

Some requirements for hostels were cancelled. In particular, now hostels should not have separate entrance, elevator, public and office premises, tanks with water reserves, need for a certain area per visitor. The requirements for personnel were simplified.

Aziz Abdukhakimov said that the opinions of owners of hostels and foreign experts were studied. “We held talks and expect that in the near future big hostel networks will enter the Uzbek market,” he added.

According to him, the hostel networks will be created in places where tourist attractions are located, and in mountainous areas.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan urged local investors to invest in the creation of hostels. He stated that local investors can apply to the khokimiyats and get land or facilities to create hostels. “We welcome both local and foreign investors who are ready to invest in hostels,” he stressed.
