Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- TurStat has presented a rating of the most popular and attractive among tourists countries of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) for winter tourism and recreation.
The rating of the CIS countries is based on popularity among tourists and the development of infrastructure for tourism and recreation in the CIS countries.
According to TurStat, the top five CIS countries for winter holidays for tourists include Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Armenia.
In Uzbekistan, in winter, tourists visit the capital Tashkent and the Silk Road cities of Bukhara and Samarkand, as well as the Chimgan ski resort.
In Kyrgyzstan, in winter, tourists are attracted by the capital Bishkek and the ski resort of Karakol, as well as Lake Issyk-Kul. In Kazakhstan, tourists tend to the capital Astana and the city of Almaty, the Shymbulak resort in the Almaty mountains, as well as the Burabay resort.
In Azerbaijan, tourists come to the capital Baku and the city of Sheki, to the Shahdag and Tufandag ski resorts, as well as the Naftalan health resort. In Armenia, in winter, tourists are attracted by the capital Yerevan and the ski resort of Tsakhkadzor.
