Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During the visit of diplomatic representatives of the Republic of Iraq to Uzbekistan, bilateral negotiations took place between the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan U. Safarov and Charge d’Affairs of Iraq in Astana Jabir al-Tamimi, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry reports.

As noted at the meeting, Uzbekistan’s trade turnover with Iraq in 2022 amounted to US$12.1 million, and in 2023 these figures increased to US$22.1 million, and these indicators indicate the growing development of trade and economic relations.

During the dialogue, it was proposed to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries in order to further develop and strengthen cooperation. An agreement was reached to organize joint events, business forums and meetings in B2B format with the participation of business circles of Uzbekistan and Iraq.

In particular, representatives of Uzbekistan and Iraq discussed issues of logistics and trade and economic partnership, and given the high demand for products produced in Uzbekistan in the Iraqi market, a proposal was put forward to begin purchasing textile, food and agricultural products.
