Tajik and Uzbek delegations will discuss issues relating to the construction of the Yovon hydroelectric power station on the River Zarafshon in Tashkent, a source in the country’s Foreign Ministry has told the national news agency of Tajikistan, Khovar.

Today a group of highly qualified specialists from Tajikistan left for the Uzbek capital at the invitation of the Uzbek side, Tajik news agency Khovar website reported.

The group includes representatives of the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Energy and Industry, as well as the Ministry of Land Reclamation and Water Resources and the Barq-i Tojik [Tajik Electricity] company.

"On 8 and 9 November this group will hold talks with their Uzbek counterparts on issues concerning the construction of the Yovon hydroelectric power station on the River Zarafshon," the source in the Foreign Ministry said.

The source in the Foreign Ministry noted that the meeting was a logical continuation of previous talks on water and energy issues between the presidents of the two countries.

"The Tajik side hopes that agreements and understanding on the construction of the Yovon hydroelectric power station on the River Zarafshon will be reached during the talks in the spirit of cooperation and mutual support, and in view of traditional centuries-old relations of friendship and good neighbourliness and for the good of both countries," the source in the country’s Foreign Ministry added.
