Uzbekistan invests US$4.32bn to modernize water supply, sewerage system
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan adopted a programme on modernization of system of water supply and sewerage system up to 2020 with the cost of US$4.32 billion soums.

Within the programme, it is planned to carry out 43 projects on reconstruction of water supply system with US$3.057 billion and 18 projects on reconstruction of sewerage system for US$1.266 billion.

The programme will be financed due to foreign loans for US$3.164 billion and state budget and resources of the Uzbek side – US$1.16 billion soums.

In 2013-2015, it is planned to use US$1.44 billion soums, of which US$79.25 million will be foreign credits and US$647.9 million – resources of Uzbek side.

The programme implementation will increase level of centralized water supply in all cities up to 100% and rural settlements – 85-90%.

Currently, centralized water supply system covers 119 cities (100%) and 9,050 rural settlements (74.6%) with coverage level of 82.6%.
