The statement said that some 59 billion soums were invested to repair and rehabilitation works of collector and drainage networks with the extension of 10,530.2 km within the State programme of land-improvement of irrigated lands for 2008-2012.

Uzbekistan also carried out rehabilitation work at 585.6 km of closed horizontal drainage networks, nine land-improvement pump stations, 627 land improvement wells and other land-improvement objects.

In the result of the conducted measures, the country improved conditions of 1 million hectares of irrigated lands and level of underground waters were decreased at 350,000 hectares.
