Uzbekistan introduces SCADA at gas transportation system
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to realize a project on creation of modern supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system at the gas transportation system in four stages.

The Government of Uzbekistan approved stages of SCADA project implementation, which will allow to eliminate gas leakages timely and save significant volume of energy resources.

In line with approved schedule, the first stage will last seven months and the works will be carried out at Gallaaral-Tashkent area. Within the stage, it is planned to lay 760.5 km fiber optic communication line (FOCL) and connect to management and control system two compression stations, 29 crane hubs, 36 gas distribution systems and 33 stations of cathode protection.

The second stage will cover Kagan-Gallaaral and Mubarek-Zirabulak areas. During five months, it is planned to construct 717.9 km of FOCL, connect to the management and control system three compression stations, 29 crane hubs, 28 gas distribution stations and 78 stations of cathode protection.

In the third stage, the project will be implemented at Shurtan-Tashkent area within four months. It is expected that 739.1 km of FOCL will be laid in the area and 53 crane hubs, four gas distribution stations and 31 stations of cathode protection will be linked to the management and control system.

Last fourth stage will be realized within two months at Mubarek-Shortan area, where it is planned to lay 273.08 km of FOLC and connect 8 crane hubs, 9 gas distribution stations and 16 stations of cathode protection to the management and control system.

In line with calculations, total cost of the project will make up US$81 million. Uztransgaz allocated US$7.4 million of own resources to the project implementation and attract US$73.6 million of loans of China Eximbank.
