Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Agency for Strategic Reforms has unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing and modernizing urban communication infrastructure.
Currently, the process of obtaining permits for infrastructure projects takes two to three months due to the absence of a unified platform for verifying and approving applications. More than a third of applications require resubmission, further delaying project execution.
To address these challenges, the Agency aims to establish a system that streamlines permit coordination. It cited the NYC Street Works platform as an example, which reduced application processing times in New York City by 30%.
Another proposal involves organizing independent inspections for preliminary project reviews to identify deficiencies before submitting documents for approval. A similar practice in London has proven effective, reducing incorrect applications by 5% at the initial stages.
Additionally, the Agency has suggested introducing mandatory insurance policies to cover damages to infrastructure. Combined with regular audits, this measure would minimize risks, expedite damage compensation, and reduce budgetary burdens for repairs.
The Agency also recommends evaluating and planning infrastructure projects with long-term goals in mind. Mandatory monitoring and inspections would help significantly reduce instances of substandard communication and repair work.
These measures aim to improve coordination, enhance quality, and optimize resource allocation in urban infrastructure development.
