The excise was introduced in line with the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan “On forecast of main macroeconomic figures and parameters of the state budget of Uzbekistan for 2012”.

According to the document, the combined excise rate has been installed for imported edible oil at the size of 10% of customs cost of the goods, but not less than US$0.16 per liter.

Before this, Uzbekistan levied import duty at the size of 5% of customs cost of product at the import of edible oil.
