Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has introduced administrative liability for illegally changing or copying the IMEI code of mobile devices.

According to the new article 155-3 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, a violation entails a fine of 15 to 20 sizes of basic estimated value.

It is also prohibited to create a copy of the identification module of a subscriber device without the permission of the manufacturer or owner. The fine for this violation will be up to 20 sizes of basic estimated value.

Confiscation of the instrument used to commit the offense is envisaged as well.

The changes will take effect in three months.
