Uzbekistan introduces a five-year residence permit for foreigners for US$200,000
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 1 June, Uzbekistan will implement a simplified procedure for granting a five-year residence permit to foreign nationals and stateless persons. This measure is outlined in a presidential decree signed on 18 April.
To obtain the residence permit, applicants will need to pay US$200,000, with an additional US$100,000 required for each family member — spouse, children, or parents.
The residence permit is a document that verifies the identity of a foreign national or stateless person and confirms permission for permanent residence in Uzbekistan.
Currently, the following categories of people are eligible for a residence permit in the republic: foreign nationals and stateless persons aged 16 and over who permanently reside in the country; individuals granted permission for permanent residence in accordance with the established procedure, including former citizens of Uzbekistan who lost their citizenship; citizens of countries included in a special list, whose nationals can apply for a residence permit by purchasing real estate for a specific amount: at least US$300,000 in Tashkent and Tashkent region, from US$200,000 in Samarkand, Bukhara, Namangan, Andijan, Fergana, and Khorezm regions, and at least US$100,000 in Karakalpakstan and other regions of the country.
In addition, residence permits can be granted to individuals who have lived permanently in Uzbekistan but have not acquired or have lost their citizenship according to the law.
