Uzbekistan injects over 5.1 billion cubic meters of gas into underground storage

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — This year, more than 5.1 billion cubic meters of gas have been injected into Uzbekistan’s underground storage facilities, which is 1 billion cubic meters more than last year, according to Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamahmudov.

Mirzamahmudov emphasized that the country’s energy sector is preparing not only for the autumn-winter season but also for the summer, as energy consumption rises with increasing temperatures. The minister pointed out that similar consumption spikes are observed in other countries, including Russia, where some regions faced restrictions this summer despite a stable energy system.

This year, preparations for the autumn-winter period began earlier than usual, as per the president’s directive, addressing shortcomings from previous years. The focus has been on energy production, transportation, distribution, and generation. The minister also highlighted a significant increase in generation capacity, particularly through the use of renewable energy sources.

Mirzamahmudov stated that substantial efforts have been made to ensure sufficient fuel reserves, allowing for a successful winter season.
