Uzbekistan, India discuss cooperation in IT sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An Uzbek-Indian working group on information technologies held its first session in Delhi, India, on 24 January 2011, the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information (UzACI) said on 29 January 2011.

The UzACI said that the meeting was co-chaired by N.Ravi Shanker, senior secretary of Department of information technologies of India, and Miradil Sangilov, deputy director-general of the UzACI.

Indian side included representatives of Ministry of communication and information technologies, Center for development of advanced computer technologies C-DAC, Scientific-educational union DOEACC, as well as Indian IT companies.

Representatives of the UzACI, Center for development and introduction of computer and information technologies UZINFOCOM and Center for training and support of young programmers were included to the Uzbek delegation.

During the session, the sides presented their opportunities and perspectives of cooperation. The working group considered various issues on strengthening bilateral cooperation in IT sector between two countries. It was said that Uzbekistan and India enjoy warm and friendly relations. It was underlined that the Uzbek-Indian Information Technologies center named after Neru has been opened in Tashkent in 2006 and over 960 students underwent training there.

The sides underlined that the working group is good platform for revealing ways of developing economic relations between Uzbekistan and India in ICT sector as they open huge opportunities for cooperation and joint use of strong sides of each others. The corresponding protocol has been inked in the result of the session. The sides agreed to hold next session of the working in Tashkent.

During the visit to India, the Uzbek delegation also held meeting with Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technologies of India Shahi Kant Sharma. The sides exchanged opinion on current affairs and perspectives of cooperation in IT sector.
