Uzbekistan increases imports of energy resources in January-March

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the first quarter of 2023, Uzbekistan sharply increased imports of gas, coal, oil and oil products, according to the data of the Agency of Statistics of Uzbekistan.

In particular, Uzbekistan imported gas for US$152.9 million. At the same time, the country imported gas in the amount of US$151.2 million in March. The growth compared to January-March 2022 was 2.6 times.

At the same time, Uzbekistan’s gas exports in January-March exceeded US$27.8 million, according to a report by the Statistics Agency.

The volume of exports of Uzbekistan in the first quarter of 2023 amounted to US$45.2 million, which is 61.7% more compared to the same period in 2022.

Uzbekistan imported oil and oil products in the amount of US$510 million. The growth compared to the same period in 2022 was 43.3%.

In January-March 2023, Uzbekistan sent US$742.5 million to import energy resources, which is almost 2 times more than in the first quarter of 2022.

It should be noted that Uzbekistan reduced gas production in the first quarter of 2023 by 9.6% and electricity generation by 5%. Uzbekistan has also reduced heat generation and coal production.
