Uzbekistan implements project “Strengthening family and children”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Association “SOS – Children Villages in Uzbekistan” started to implement a project “Strengthening family and children”, official opening of which was held in Tashkent, UzA reported.

The project is financed due to resources of the Institution Building Partnership Programme (IBPP) of the European Union and it is directed at improving social-economic status of socially vulnerable families and children, as well as strengthening potential of state and non-governmental organizations, rendering social services to population.

The project implementation has started in November 2011, which covered large organization-legal works. The agreements were reached with large number of state and public organizations, which became partners of the project.

Nigora Sanginova, manager on programme on family strengthening of the Association “SOS – Children Villages in Uzbekistan”, said that the project will be implemented in four mahallas (neighbourhoods) of Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent city within two years. The project will benefit 100 adults and 350 children.

She added that within the programme, it is planned to hold trainings, roundtables, seminars for employees of partner organizations, engaged in social support system, as well as families.

Within the project, it is planned to create information-resource center in Tashkent branch of the Association “SOS – Children Villages in Uzbekistan”, where social-psychological support will be rendered to families. In one pilot mahalla, the families will receive consultations, improve knowledge on employment.
