At the meeting, experts of the international financial organization exchanged views with specialists of the Ministry on specifics of the Digital CASA project in Uzbekistan, which consists of such components as digital infrastructure, the Electronic Government system, and digital economy.
The guests became acquainted with comprehensive work being carried out in the country to develop ICT, telecommunications infrastructure and mobile communications, broadband Internet access, and the dynamics of reducing the cost of Internet traffic for local users.
The World Bank’s Digital CASA project aims to create a cross-border broadband telecommunications network that will connect the countries of Central and South Asia into a single information space. The ultimate goal of the Digital CASA regional program is to increase the economic growth of countries in the region, improve provision of public services and help create new jobs. To achieve this strategic goal, the Digital CASA regional program will contribute to the development of broadband Internet access, pooling of private investments for digital development, as well as ensuring capacity building of the governments of member states in provision of electronic services.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue the exchange of views on further development of mutually beneficial forms of cooperation for implementation of the Digital CASA project.
