Uzbekistan – Hungary: Strengthening Mutual Friendship and Beneficial Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 June 2025, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Nuriddinjon Ismoilov, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to the Republic of Uzbekistan, József Rózsa.

During the discussion, it was emphasized that thanks to the strong political will of the leaders of both countries and regular high-level meetings, the strategic partnership and practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary have been steadily strengthening in recent years, with bilateral dialogue actively continuing across all levels.

Special attention was given to the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Hungary in May of this year, which marked a significant milestone in expanding multifaceted cooperation and elevated bilateral relations to a new level.

The Hungarian diplomat was provided with detailed information on the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under the new edition of the Constitution and the “Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy, as well as on the structure of the Legislative Chamber, its lawmaking activities, and parliamentary oversight functions.

In turn, József Rózsa expressed sincere gratitude for the warm and friendly reception and praised the historic transformations taking place in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

He also highlighted the successful organization of the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in April this year in Tashkent, noting it as a demonstration of Uzbekistan’s growing international role, particularly in advancing parliamentary diplomacy.

The meeting included discussions on prospects for deepening bilateral relations, enhancing the work of inter-parliamentary friendship groups to implement agreements reached at the highest level, and the importance of effectively utilizing the potential of parliamentary diplomacy. Plans were outlined for further expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation.
