"A thoroughly thought-out policy on reforms, modernization and liberalization [...] of country’s economy [...] has created a powerful barrier to prevent us from negative impact of the crisis and other threats," Farmanov said in an interview with parliamentary newspaper People’s Word the day before a meeting in the Senate. One of the main topics of the regular meeting of the Uzbek Parliament’s Senate will be an anti-crisis package of measures for 2009-2012. One of the major issues to be considered at the plenary sitting is the role and responsibility of local authorities for implementation of the anti-crisis program for 2009-2012, Farmanov said.
"Urgency of this issue is unquestionable, because under the current conditions it is very important in all current affairs to take into account the impact and consequences of the global economic crisis," he said.
