Uzbekistan has 102 state archives
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has 102 state archives, which store over 8.5 million units of documents of National Archive Fund, and 115 inter-departmental archives, which were created under local administrations.

In 2012, archive institutions of Uzbekistan processed 129,560 requests of the citizens (growth – 25%), of which 115,395 people applied personally. The bodies also satisfied 10,308 topical requests of the citizens (+20%) and organized 393 exhibitions (+13%).

Number of request to reading halls of archive bodies grew in last seven years. Researchers receive access to archive documents both in paper and electronic format. In 2012, some 1,906 researches (+74%) received 30,126 archive documents.

Archive institutions provide both paid services, which are provided in line with the agreement, signed with the customers. Archive institutions provided paid services for 2.4 billion soums (+34%) in 2012.

The archive bodies of Uzbekistan created an electronic-search database on documents of organizations, stored at state archives. The system helps to speed up search of documents of organizations to issue archive certificate, which approve work experience, salary, education and other data.

Central State Archive of Uzbekistan, Central State Archive of Scientific-Technical and Medical Documentation of Uzbekistan and State Archive of Tashkent city installed information kiosks, which provide access to archive documents.

Archive institutions are also working on introduction of new information services, including through one-stop-shop. It is also planned to provide service on issuing gene tree and family diploma for population.
