Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2024, Uzbekistan harvested over 3 million tons of cotton, as announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his congratulatory message to agricultural workers.
The President highlighted that despite challenging conditions, the country achieved significant results thanks to the dedicated efforts of its farmers. This year, Uzbekistan produced 9 million tons of grain, over 3 million tons of cotton, and more than 16 million tons of vegetables and melons.
Additionally, the harvest included 5 million tons of fruits and grapes, and 4 million tons of potatoes. More than 15 million tons of meat and milk, as well as 30,000 tons of silk cocoons, were also produced.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized that such achievements exemplify remarkable dedication and deserve the highest recognition.
He underscored the importance of adopting advanced agricultural technologies, scientific developments, and innovations. He cited the example of the harvest obtained from 100,000 hectares sown with high-yield, disease-resistant cotton varieties.
In grain production, the average yield reached 85 centners per hectare for the first time, thanks to resource-efficient technologies. Over 6,000 farmers achieved yields exceeding 90–100 centners, marking a significant accomplishment.
The President also noted progress in vegetable farming, where the application of intensive technologies on 50,000 hectares increased yields by 200–250 centners per hectare compared to traditional methods. This resulted in a net income of $6,000–8,000 per hectare.
In 2024, to support agricultural producers, 18 trillion soums in concessional loans and 176 billion soums in subsidies were allocated. Furthermore, 11,600 units of modern agricultural machinery and equipment worth a total of 3.6 trillion soums were supplied, playing a key role in the successful completion of the agricultural season.
