Uzbekistan Generates Over 35.5 Billion kWh of Electricity in First Five Months of 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From January to May 2025, Uzbekistan produced 35.56 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, marking a 4.2% increase compared to the same period of last year.
Despite this overall growth, electricity generation at large enterprises declined sharply — from 31.2 billion kWh in January–May 2024 to 26.32 billion kWh in the current year, reflecting a decrease of 15.65%.
In contrast, small business entities significantly ramped up their activity, generating 9.24 billion kWh of electricity — a 3.17-fold increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
At the same time, a downturn was observed in thermal energy production by large enterprises, which totaled 10.21 million gigacalories — 11.1% less than in January–May 2024.
