Uzbekistan, France to cooperate in preserving cultural heritage

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Signing ceremony of the arrangement on transfer of cultural heritage objects to Uzbekistan by means of exchanging letters between the governments of Uzbekistan and the French Republic was held during the meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary François Gauthier at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 13 April 2012.

The objects of cultural heritage, consisting of two carved wooden doors, two carved wooden columns and three supporting capitals, were made by Uzbek master craftsmen in the 19th century. Soon they will adorn the “Ichankala” historical-architectural museum-sanctuary in Khiva.

The signing ceremony was held within the frameworks of celebrating the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and France, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
