Uzbekistan experience presented in Geneva

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan consisting of representatives of the Agency for the Development of Public-Private Partnership under the Ministry of Finance and the Permanent Mission in Geneva took part in the 3rd meeting of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) Working Group on Public-Private partnership (PPP).

The event brought together more than 100 international experts and national experts responsible for the development of PPPs.

During the meeting, the guidelines on PPPs in order to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were discussed, current work is presented to assess the impact on the SDG implementation of thematic projects and studies in this area in various countries. Experts reviewed the draft model law on PPPs with special emphasis on human well-being.

The Uzbek delegation acquainted the participants with information on the development of PPP in the republic and the main activities of the Agency for the development of public-private partnerships. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of rulemaking in this area and new opportunities for implementing projects based on public-private partnerships.

As part of their stay in Geneva, a delegation of the Public-Private Partnership Development Agency met with UNECE PPP Program Manager Jeffrey Hamilton.

The negotiations discussed issues of further development of cooperation between the Agency and UNECE on the implementation of technical assistance projects in the field of PPP.

The Commission expressed its readiness to assist the Uzbek side in further improving national legislation in this direction, organizing joint events dedicated to improving the knowledge and skills of local specialists and implementing PPP projects.
