Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 1 November 2024, Ismatulla Irgashev, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, held a meeting with Terhi Hakala, the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects of Uzbek-European cooperation in the context of the situation in Afghanistan. Special attention was given to the efforts of the international community to prevent a humanitarian crisis in the country, as well as the potential use of the international transport and logistics hub in Termez for delivering humanitarian aid.
Terhi Hakala praised Uzbekistan's initiatives aimed at forming a unified regional position on Afghanistan, with the goal of establishing long-term peace and stability in the country.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their mutual readiness for further bilateral consultations on issues related to the situation in Afghanistan.
