About 90 representatives of national tourism administrations participated at the summit and they discussed issues of developing of tourism during global financial crisis.

During the session of the UNWTO, the participants considered issues of strengthening process of tourism market rehabilitation after global recession, change in sector after crisis, impact of tax-budget regulations and increase of taxation in European tourism, development in Middle East and Northern Africa, role of the government in tourism development.

The participants noted that social and economic benefit from tourism can be strengthened through boosting close cooperation between states, public and private partnership in visa, taxation and marketing spheres.

In his speech, UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai said that tourism sector shows good development despite instable economic situation in the world. In the first eight months of 2011, international tourism inflow increased by 4.5% year-on-year.

In his speech, Taleb Rifai recalled that number of international tourists in 2012 exceed 1 billion people.

The summit became an event, which serves as platform for exchange of opinion and close cooperation of industry.
