Uzbekistan decreases cement production by 1.4% in Jan-Sep

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan deceased production of cement by 1.4% year-on-year in January-September 2010, the State Statistics Committee of the country said in its report.

The committee said that Uzbekistan produced about 5.274 million tonnes of cement in nine months of 2010.

As earlier reported, Uzbekistan is planning to produce about 7 million tonnes of cement in 2010.

Uzbekistan increased cement output by 3.1% year-on-year in 2009 to 6.8 million tones.

Currently, largest cement producers in Uzbekistan are Kyzylkumcement OJSC (capacity – 3.1 million tonnes), Ahangarancement OJSC (1.74 million tonnes) and Quvasaycement OJSC (920,000 tonnes). Share of cement industry in total produced goods in construction materials sector is 72%.
