Uzbekistan declares November as “Month of Tourism for Elderly”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In accordance with the "Program of measures to further improve the system of state support for the elderly", approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 28 May 2020 No. 340 "On additional measures to further improve the system of state support for the elderly people ", the task of organizing “Month of Tourism for the Elderly”  was set, with the aim of encouraging the older generation while traveling around the country.

November 2020 was announced as the "Month of Tourism for Elderly ", in order to spend this month at a decent level, organize interesting recreation, as well as develop domestic tourism, voluntary discounts of up to 50% were introduced for services of 212 accommodation facilities (hotels and guest houses) in republic, voluntary discounts of up to 20% on services in 114 catering establishments.

In addition, from 1 to 30 November, Uzbekistan Airways introduced additional discounts of 25% at the current prices of economy and business class (except for LPR3M, UPR3M, SPR3M, OPR3M) for men over 60 and women over 55 for air routes within the republic and 10% at current tariffs within the republic, as well as “Uzbekiston Temir Yollari” JSC and “Uzautotrans Service” LLC introduced voluntary discounts of 15% on bus tickets on domestic routes.

Also, for visiting shrines and cultural heritage sites, the Wakf Public Charitable Foundation under the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan provides free admission to 14 shrines in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Khorezm and Navoi regions.

Discounts have been introduced for access to 49 cultural heritage sites in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Samarkand, Syrdarya, Surkhandarya and Khorezm regions.

In addition, the State Committee for Tourism Development has developed tourism programs for domestic tourism, bringing together shrines in 14 regions, and the Ministry for Support of Mahalla and Family is conducting awareness-raising activities to attract older activists from all regions.

According to the decision of the special commission of the Republic, in connection with the granting of a permit for domestic tourism in Uzbekistan, with the meaningful organization of recreation for the elderly, safe conditions are provided, the rules of sanitation and hygiene are strictly observed.
