Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan U-20 clinched a 3-0 comfortable victory over New Zealand in their first Group F match at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which is taking place in Turkey.

Ahmadjon Musaev’s side dominated in the match and scored a goal just after five minutes. But referee disallowed goal of Igor Sergeev for handball.

After nine minutes Uzbekistan opened the score however. A miskick from New Zealand goalkeeper Maxime Crocrombe found the feet of Sergeev just outside the New Zealand area. While the keeper got a hand to his shot, Makhstaliev was on hand to tap in the rebound.

Uzbekistan continued to control the ball and attack New Zealand, but they failed to convert several good chances into goals.

In particular, Igor Sergeev went close to a spectacular second as a long ball saw him out-pace Arms and sweetly hit a left-footed volley with the outside of his foot, for it to curl only onto the outside of the far post.

In the second half, Ahmadjon Musaev’s side continued to attack and on 53 minutes Igor Sergeev doubled the lead of his team. After 14 minutes, Diyorjon Turopov scored third goal for Uzbeks from about 27 meters.

Uzbekistan created several good chances after the third goal, but goalkeeper and defenders of New Zealand were able to clean their lines.

It is worth to mention that this was the first victory of Uzbekistan at the FIFA U-20 World Cups. Earlier, Uzbekistan participated at the FIFA U-20 World Cup twice. In 2009, Uzbekistan played a 1-1 draw with England. Uzbekistan lost other five matches.
