President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On measures on further increasing efficiency of organization and conducting exploration works” in late August 2010. The resolution envisages reorganization of the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan.

At the same time, the resolution abolished the State Commission on reserves of natural resources under the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources.

After reorganization, functions of the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources will include exploration of hydro mineral resources, firm non-metallic natural resources, ferrous metals, complex research on geological studying territories, geological survey works on determining natural resources.

State inspection on supervision over security of industry, mining and communal-household sector (Sanoatkontekhnazorat) will be reorganized into the State inspection on supervision of geological exploration of interior, secure work of industry, mining and communal-household under the Cabinet of Ministers (Sanoatgeokontekhnazorat).

Sanoatgeokontekhnazorat also received to its structure the Department of the state control over geologic survey under the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources.

The resolution entrusted additional functions to Sanoatgeokontekhnazorat. The inspection will carry out control over adherence of legislation of geological survey and geological-mine survey of mining works, carry out geological exploration works, etc.
